Abba’s Little Girl: Mel Gibson, Piercing The Hand That Loves Him

Folks, I found this post on Abba’s Little Girl, the blog of my colleague Patty Bonds, that I must share with you in toto:

In an interview before the release of The Passion of the Christ, Mel Gibson said that he used his own hand for the scene when the soldier drives the nail through Jesus' hand. I wonder if he realizes he is still driving that nail? Oh God of all redemption, call the sinner back home.

Commentary. My thoughts exactly! We’re all familiar with the “tortured artist” phenomenon and for me, The Passion of the Christ was a sublime work of cinematic art. But the artist behind it is a tortured soul whose mistakes threaten to outshine his achievements and destroy his success.

Let us pray for Mel Gibson, for his healing, redemption, and restoration, as we pray for our own. May the Lord lift Mel from void his sins have sunk him into. May the Lord bless Him, give him an opportunity to repair the damage he has done, and enable him to live a reasonably happy life on this earth.

Oh my gosh, thank you!! I have been feeling so led (as my Baptist friends put it) to pray for Mel Gibson. His recent troubles just break my heart. I truly hope and pray that he can somehow reconcile with his wife of so many years. But even if he can't, I hope and pray he will come completely back to Jesus and to the Church. It's obvious he still loves Jesus, even while he sins against him. We are all in that boat, of course; "there but for the Grace of God..."

"Who will deliver me from this body of death?" St Paul exclaimed. Only Divine Grace can do so. But Divine Grace is omnipotent. Blessed Mother and Saint Faustina, pray, pray, pray. Bring the prodigal home.

O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy Mercy."

As soon as he made that movie, he was a target. Mr. Gibson has been under Demonic Oppression attacks and I say that they have beat him up pretty bad. Pray that Mr. Gibson returns to his senses and starts to battle again and repents and returns home to the True Catholic Church...

William, I agree. The evil one knew exactly which buttons to push to make Mel fall, and fallen he has. Mel has lost his family, his good name, and his fortune. He has lied, cheated, committed adultery, and engaged in verbal violence. He needs all our prayers.

Mel displays all the classic symptoms of Biploar type I. (In a 2008 documentary, Acting Class of 1977, he first talked about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.)

Pray for him.
