Folks, while the MSM is focused on Google’s travails with the “People’s Republic” of China – problems they brought on themselves as they acquiesced to that government’s censorship demands – little light has been shed on the search engine’s giant reluctance to auto-fill negative search results on the phrase “Islam is.” Christianity, of course, does not fare equal respect. Try it yourself: go to Google and type “Christianity is” and Google will helpfully complete the search phrase, often with profane contents. Or click on the screen capture below to see it larger.
This is the same search for “Islam is”:
Nothing happens! Google offers no contents. And by the way, I used their browser, Chrome to perform the searches.
Political correctness gone awry is what allowed accused Fort Hood gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasanto fall through the cracks. More troubling, according to Time Magazine, “the U.S. military's just-released report into the Fort Hood shootings spends 86 pages detailing various slipups by Army officers but not once mentions Major Nidal Hasan by name or even discusses whether the killings may have had anything to do with the suspect's view of his Muslim faith.”
This is political correctness sung in the high, screeching chord of stupidity.
I hope that Google’s leadership make use of their recently grown backbone and defy self-imposed censorship on subjects regarding Islam in the free world. Censorship may work in places like China but I don’t want it here. Google should stop censoring information, period.
- Hat tip to Jihad Watch, who broke the story first.

I am getting results in my attempts. I use Google Chrome browser and nothings seems censored on my end. Perhaps your internet provider is the problem.
I've tried it through two different providers. There there's also the results from Jihad Watch and various other bloggers.
When you typed "Islam is," what did Google show you automatically as suggestions?

I tried it with:
Christianity is ...
Buddhism is ...
Hinduism is ...
Judaism is ...
Shinto is ...
Scientology is ...
Islam is ...
Results:
1. NO autofill results for Islam
2. only a few autofill results for Shinto. Probably because most people outside Japan have no idea of what Shinto is
3. for ALL the others I got plenty of autofill results, including some obscene.
So yeah: your hypothesis has been tested, test has been replicated independently, and experimental results indicate that the hypothesis is not rejected. Google appears to be censoring its "autofill" function when it relates to Islam.
We lived in Boston for 20 years and I can tell you the blues will be crying the blues for awhile up there. They blame negative campaigning on Scott Brown's part (attacking Coakley) for the upset vote, according to my friends up North. I thought for sure we would have seen the "hanging chads" for 2 weeks!
But more importantly, your highlight of the Google search on Christianity vs. Islam was an eye opener! I tried it myself - incredible! I also saw a very interesting program last night (part 1) called Demographic Wimter. The website is www.demographicwinter.com and the show highlighted the "fruits " of the social changes that have taken place since the 60's and 70's etc. The researchers are showing how these "progressive" choices (abortion, waiting to have children, the "me" generation, feminism, demise of marriage between a man and woman to name a few) have tipped the scales globaly on a wide range of life-changing issues with dire consequences. These were social scientists, and not religious researchers who found patterns that cannot be denied.
My first thought was that God's plan was the perfect plan all along, as highlighted in the Bible, and the world drove off course starting in 1960 - we were duped. How did that happen and with such intensity? I was duped; liberal feminism was all I grew up with (not my parents, but my culture) and was the norm to me. Your 3 topics today highlight the continuation of the progressive push toward a post-Christian secular world.

I didn't get any results when I typed Islam is either. Does Islam get special treatment like this because of all the recent (decades-wise) terrorist attacks? Or was it also like this before terrorism became such a national issue? Anyone know?
I'm so disappointed in Google!
Okay, sorry... Google isn't giving me "suggestions." However, it doesn't seem to be an anti-Christian thing, or fear of "the religion of peace." One won't get suggestions if one types in "Catholics are" "Jews are" or "Muslims are." I am sure that there are millions of possible phrases and combinations of words that don't have suggestions.
Very interesting post. If Google can avoid the negative publicity it would would generate they would have no problems adding a filter. Keep in mind the risk reward. Is the media interested in Christian bias or persecutions of Christians? Almost never. So there is no risk for the company... only the real or imagined offenses directed at minority faiths and cultures get exalted in the media. It's really not a mystery as to why this is.
